Monarchies and Revolutions Unit Plan

HS.SE.1: Analyze issues and practices of responsible behavior when using resources
--Students will use the internet for research and Ms. Williamson has planned lessons that include SMARTBoard and PowerPoint presentations.
Unit Goals:
1. Students will effectively make connections between the Industrial Revolution and the other revolutions of the age with 80% proficiency.
2. Students will be able to identify the major leaders of the revolutions and describe how they came to power with 80% proficiency.
3. Students will be able to place each revolution in chronological order to understand this time period of history with 80% proficiency.
Unit Objectives:
1. Students will be able to differentiate between the Enlightenment and the Scientific Revolution by describing five characteristics.
2. Students will be able to create a timeline for the English colonies leading up to the American Revolution by organizing and describing five major events.
3. Students will be able to compare the wealth of the nobility to that of the impoverished during the French Revolution by completing a venn-diagram with three facts in each category.
4. Students will be able to learn about each of the revolutionary Latin American leaders from one another and create posters that match the criteria.
5. Students will be able to determine the causes and effects of the Industrial Revolution by describing three ways it influenced the revolutions in France and the Americas.
